What a wonderful five weeks it has been at the Little Dragon Summer Enrichment Program 2026!
This summer, our classrooms were filled with curiosity, creativity, laughter, and hands-on learning. Students explored Chinese language and culture, strengthened their math and music skills, discovered the world of STEM and science, and took part in fun special activities throughout the program.
Learning Through Exploration
In Chinese Language & Culture, students learned through stories, songs, games, crafts, and projects. Younger students explored themes such as numbers, ocean life, beach adventures, and nature, while our older students discovered Chinese cuisine, learned about the traditional Lion Dance, and created cultural presentations to share with their classmates.
Math lessons gave students opportunities to build both foundational and real-world skills. Younger learners practiced addition, subtraction, multiplication, and fractions, while older students explored business math, including sales, expenses, profit, discounts, and pricing strategies.
Music brought even more creativity into the classroom. Students practiced rhythm, basic music theory, and simple sheet music using kazoos and egg shakers. Our younger students also learned the beloved Chinese song 《虫儿飞》(Firefly Flying), which they proudly performed at our Summer Showcase.
Science, STEM & Creative Discovery
Our STEM and science activities gave students plenty of opportunities to learn by doing. Inspired by our ocean theme, students learned about marine animals such as seahorses, jellyfish, pufferfish, and red crabs while taking part in experiments, engineering challenges, and ocean-themed crafts.
Some of the biggest highlights included our Mentos and Coke eruption and a hands-on pufferfish experiment using baking soda and vinegar. These activities encouraged students to ask questions, make observations, and discover how science works through experimentation.
Students also celebrated Moon Day, learning about the Apollo Moon Landing and life in space before creating their own rocket crafts. On International Friendship Day, they reflected on kindness and friendship while making heart-themed crafts and origami heart rings for people special to them.
Looking Back on Summer 2026
From language and culture to math, music, science, STEM, and creative activities, our students had countless opportunities to learn, explore, and have fun this summer.
We are incredibly proud of everything our students accomplished and grateful to our teachers for making each week such a meaningful experience.
