📖 One-Minute Family Story: A Collage Keepsake Workshop
Families gathered this July for a fun and creative afternoon at our One-Minute Family Story: A Collage Keepsake Workshop, led by local artist Sharon Santillo. 🎨
Using collage, photos, and even a vintage typewriter ⌨️, participants turned treasured memories into one-of-a-kind keepsakes. Stories ranged from learning to ride a bike 🚲 and family adventures to visits with grandparents in Canada 🇨🇦 and favorite strawberries 🍓—each celebrating the special moments that bring families together. ❤️
🎓 Little Dragon Summer Enrichment Program
July was a busy and exciting month for CCC’s Educational Programs! Alongside our Middle School Summer Program, we welcomed students in our K–6 Summer Enrichment Program, a five-week adventure filled with learning, creativity, and fun.
Throughout the summer, students explored Mandarin, math, music theory, science, creative art, and Chinese culture. They investigated ocean life through hands-on experiments, learned the scientific method, strengthened their math skills and even made their own boba tea! 🧋 Fridays were packed with special activities, including movie days 🎬, bracelet and Perler bead making, water parties 💦, tie-dye shirts 👕, and showcase rehearsals.
We wrapped up the program with a wonderful Summer Showcase, featuring Chinese cultural performances, music, singing, dancing, and an art exhibition. 🎭🎶🎨 We were honored to welcome Mei Hung, CCC Executive Director, Linda Thorsen, CCC Board President, and Mayor Gary Christenson to celebrate our students’ achievements.
📁 CCC Archive: Preserving 40 Years of Community History
This July, CCC launched the CCC Archive Project, a new initiative celebrating our organization’s 40 years of cultural exchange, community building, and educational programming.
Through this ongoing series, we will revisit meaningful moments from CCC’s history—from cultural exhibitions and classroom programs to the many people and partnerships that have helped shape our community.
Our first highlights look back at early efforts to share Chinese culture with the broader Massachusetts community, including a 1986 Qing Dynasty embroidered purse exhibition and a China Day program brought into local classrooms by CCC’s founder and the Songzhu (Pine and Bamboo) Sisters Association.

🎵 Bilingual Rhyming Time
Despite the summer heat, families across our community continued to come together every Thursday for Bilingual Rhyming Time! It has been wonderful to see children and families gather each week to enjoy songs, rhymes, stories, and bilingual learning in a fun and welcoming environment. 💛
We’ll be taking a short break in August and look forward to welcoming everyone back when Bilingual Rhyming Time resumes in September!
🥋 Tai Chi Class
Our Friday Tai Chi classes continue to be a favorite among community members! As more of us become mindful of the importance of staying active and taking care of our well-being, our weekly Tai Chi sessions have provided a wonderful opportunity to exercise, relax, and connect with others. We’re so glad to see our community embracing this healthy and enjoyable activity week after week! 🌿
